What to Ask Memorialists

  • Do you have any examples of completed monuments?

    Each provider should use the highest-grade granite to ensure the memorial will last for many, many years. Success stories and examples of memorials that they have constructed should be readily available for any potential client.

  • How many different colors are available for granite monuments?

    Prices will vary for granite memorials, and the color along with the style will determine its value. The provider should easily be able to give you granite in the color you want at a reasonable price.

  • What design or engraving options are included in the final price?

    No reputable provider will overcharge a client for a simple design to be engraved in a memorial. Having a long name or a very simple design should by no means be justification for an unreasonable fee.

  • What are the best inscription techniques?

    Hand etching, laser, and sandblasting are the more sophisticated techniques that a professional monument provider will be most familiar with. These methods add unique character to the memorial, and an expert will offer you other options as well to fit your budget.

  • Will I be able to see a preview of my design before it's fabricated?

    No professional monument provider will object to providing you with a scale drawing of your design before it's produced.

  • Which cemeteries do you provide services for?

    Certain out-of-state or internet retailers have been known to undercut local provider quotes. They do this by bypassing all paperwork, fees, or other processes required to be fulfilled with the cemetery.
